STBB Battle Back-Up / Stockpile / Ideas

Hey all! After some discussion, we've decided to launch a STBB Beat Battle Back-Up thread where everyone can chip in ideas for future battles! Whether it's posting your own battle idea or providing feedback on samples/rules

We can use this thread as a way for the following:

1. Back-up battles if winner is not available or does not post rules in-time
2. Battle ideas for winner to tweak or copy for the next week (Maybe out of ideas haha)
3. Develop your own battle ideas for when you win next!

Some tips:

1. When posting your battle here - please use the similar format to default rules for easy copy/paste to new Battle thread
(You can quote, then copy the code on the following default rule post here!)

2. Give credit where it is due! If you borrow someone's battle, be sure to give props in your post :)

3. Please consider honor system -- It is possible to flip something in this idea thread, but if it is used for a Weekly or Monthly battle, please submit anything made before then as 'Non-Entry' to keep the spirit of the time limit

4. WeTransfer only works for a week -- You may consider using something like Google Drive for posts here, or be prepared with sample pack so if a battle takes place these are ready to go!

5. If you receive feedback for your battle and want to use it, simply edit your original Battle format post so we don't post rules over and over again!

Looking forward to what people cook up here! Thanks in advance for all the great ideas that will be developed 🔥

here are some cool rules I remember from the past:

MONOPHONIC: Only one sound allowed at any given time.

Dry: have a very dry delay and reverbless element in your beat

Body Beat: Make a beat using only your body

Make Jazz, Reggae or EDM

Field Recordings

Minus 6 semi tones: pitch it down

fixed BPM's / BPM changes

Gangster Love Song

Dirty vs Clean parts

Tributes to various artists ( that passed away)

Chords: make your own track by playing keys ( no samples )

Skits

Make new sentences out of given acapellles and audio material

Make the most fucked up beat imaginable

Space

Acapellas

Zombie week + sample pack

Kitchen sounds

Have someone sing on your beat

tbc...

Hey How about a House/Electro remixed with a rap or any kind of accapella (personal choice)

I was thinking of this track

Mainly cause of this remix- maybe use either-I prefer this one

other rules maybe add your own synth line.
Just an idea from a mate's electro mix I really enjoyed.
Just something for the emergency kit.
Peace. Hugh

Cover battle

Make a dope beat and a even doper Cover. Use the stbb logo, preferable a citysight photo with waxens awesome logo stickers.
Since the template is provided you can print it yourself and use some paperglue... Should be fine for a photo

Its a bit weird but i thought of a beat battle idea....

What if people could choose an Original Sound Track from an 80s Action Movie (so must have been released in cinemas between 1/1/80 - 31/12/89) to sample on a first come first served basis. So the first to claim an OST on the battle thread claims it then makes a beat from it... Then you must use only vocal samples from the movie you picked.

Then at the end you'll have lots of different beats from different movies and could make a mixtape out of it hehe

Has anyone got a list of the original forum's challenges? Or better yet all the sample packs?

list of challenges.hmmm..I gues you'd just have to click on the weeks..
there might be some who have the samples in one folder.. I have'em all in seperate ones for each week.. hell of a hassle to collect 'em :P

sample idea..
I feel we need to step up our sample game..
there's more where this came from ;)

Yeah man!!! I provided this very song for 618 or 619, along with quite a few other tracks (way too many lol)
I recall a few people sampling this one though, some nice beats made that week

I think that a general battle rule could be a better sound. I mean, if we can work some hours for creating a beat, we can work a little bit at mix, maybe even at the mastering sound. Is not a world ending thing to have a better sound. Some beats are HARDASFXCK and i would enjoy listening them in my car loudly, but the sound is very bad :)))

I think most of us try to get the best mix in the given time..
I agree a good mix will help to appreciate a track better.
although a creatively dope flip will usually do well too.

thanks for your input!

Loop Digging Week: every sound you use must be a loop from the source samples. Light effects and tempo shifts are allowed but keep it recognizable. No outside anything.

thought up these ideas:
Subliminal Messages
like, try and hide something in your track that's not obvious to hear at first listen somehow.
maybe it can be heard when sped up
or it's just garbled or chopped and rearranged

Forest: make a beat that gives you the idea that you are walking through a forest, spatially.3D.. field recordings vibe.
other places like a Desert or City could be an option too.

One Loop beat: make it interesting by changing up the dums only

THE FILM SCHOOL

Pick a famous director known for their soundtracks (eg. Tarantino).... Pick a few of said famous tracks to sample... Rules are it MUST include a vocal sample from one of their movies...

Can do the same with Video Games...
