STBB #909 🦜 👀 'ah well a everybody's heard..'

yooo congrats to ol' cloudkicker !

two in a row.. three in a row has been over a decade ago.. maybe even 14 years ..

ikaco asked me to do the samples and rules... aaaand of course you're getting some 909's

also been wanting to use this bird sample for a long while..

and have this Mizelle track recorded off vinyl by a friend..

STBB # 909

samples: https://we.tl/t-OJWECaOGp3 + bird https://wetransfer.com/downloads/6b18f912fc7198d111e291a16eb1989b20240802155201/746861

rules: use the provided samples only.. use all three in some way.. sample, bird, drums..

so no outside anything allowed for bass, drums, melo, anything

except your own voices.. as it's in good company with the birds..

have fun !

I'm sure we've had that sample before - when I've made a beat, let me try and remember when... it's really familiar!

It was back on Stones Throw forums, so quite a while ago - I know my beat was called Graffiti so will check on an old hard drive next week when I have access to it. :D

it was only the first half minute btw.. so now you guys have the full version..

oh, it was week 393 over 10 years ago ! ..cool you remembered

i looked for the 393 winner but the track has been taken down unfortunately..

i'm guessing the waybackmachine can find it.. but there's no point really seeing we can't hear it.

ah.. i thought this might be fun too..

winners from 191 to 642

Beatroot x 5XVT Collab

5XVT have sent me his chops and drums i have rechoped it again added my chops from the beginning of the sample with tape effect and made drum loop as well in 90.09bpm.
Send it back to 5XVT and he did extra drum/sample arrangement and mixed it.
Was a pleasure to work with you!

Peace
GB

Not sure if it counts. Used Ableton 909 drumkit. Found it too overwhelming with the amount of drum hits in the pack.
Used the bass sample for bass and synth (octaves up and down). No micro looping, its a full bass note which played nicely on my keyboard.
Bird sample chopped from two different places to form a sound in the background starting from 0:14 till the end.

Im gonna try to remake the drums with the ones provided in the pack

I had never used a 909 or a kit. It was a wonderful experiment for me. I looked up some classic 909 beats and was drawn to the old school house beats. So I attempted to make one for the first time. I tried to stay true to the available effects in the early 90's.

I have tried and failed to make something the last three attempts at this competition. It was really helpful to stay in a creative boundary. eg. limited samples, specific genre. Thanks for the dope samples and idea!
