RULE:
bit of hype needed so use a minimum of 2 yet a maximum of 4 M.C. lines and instances, like:

' ya'll ready for this.. here comes the bass ! ' .. or ' is everybody happy' lol ..' hiiiip, hoop' < never gets old.. or does it, haha.. call and response, cool !

outside everything allowed yet keep the main sample the focus

  • Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 894“ in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by:
    Thursday, 06:00 PST / Thursday 15:00 CET

  • Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.
    For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: https://soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
    Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.

The early start gave me more time - lovely sample but I thought it tough to make hype / battle music and found myself remaking Buck Em Down (same sample)

So I took the bass and distorted the hell out of it and EQ'd it back, same with the keys of the sample. Then added big drums and extra synth layers.

Of course MOP & Busta for HYPE.

Has there ever been a bracketed beat battle where you go head to head (I know theres a 1v1 battle subforum) - I don't think it would work in a week just due to the nature of it but could be a cool 'thing' to do maybe as one of the monthly battles.

Same sample for all entrants, names in a hat and drawn the matchups then its progression depending on that... so Joa vs 5XVT - everyone votes on the best beat between those and the winner progress to the next week sample etc... until theres a 'champ' crowned.

You could even do it World Cup style when each progression is a different country sample...

it's come up for sure.. reasons why we didn't proceed with it were.. it's pretty high maintenance.. and it doesn't involve a lotta people simultaneously

people don't have all that much time these days.. and not a lotta people showed up for the voting of the 1 v1 's .. that brings it back to the high maintenance ..

coz you'd have to put in work to bring it under the attention and engage etc.

so that's the long short of it..

Fair comments, I didn't know if it'd been tried before hence asking. I was going to say I'd help with some of the setup if it's something there was enough interest in. You could potentially have long voting and entry deadlines if required to make it work (providing people wanted to give it a go)

maybe we can give it a go once the Monthly Aca Remix is good and underway..

not to be pessimistic or anything.. it's just so spread out and involves so few people at a time that in my experience a concept like that is likely to get little traction..

always feel free to ask someone for a 1 v 1 ! see how it goes..

You will 100% know the community more than me so it's not pessimistic - I was MIA for a big portion of STBB and also started later than you haha

What's good beat heads?

Chilled wet Saturday evening cook up. :blunted:
Chopped the samples up,
pitched it down -2 as well as the drums I used :hmm:
added a filter on top of my sample chops
low end from the sample.
Sketchy cuts with my SC500
Eq's and compressor on the mix
87 Bpm.

Missed voting last week, my bad busy with school nowadays and it's been a while since I've done one of these so I forgot. Anywho... if someone spits a verse or 2 to this I'll mix it and send it back to ya for an easy collab! Or just do your own thing with it and post yourself, just wanna hear someone rap over this! :dance:
