STBB 869: LAYERS

The Rules:

You have to use some of the provided samples. And when you do, you have to layer some of the same sounds and sources - eg. if you want to pitch it down -7, then also layer a +5 pitched on top of it (so it becomes an octave). I want to hear the power of combining the same sample in different ways, and/or different samples in the same ways.
I took some from Matt Johnson who is at it again (I picked all the good stuff out already so you don't have to), and some from a big old stack of vinyl I haven't gone through yet.

collabs are encouraged, raps are too (but leave an instrumental couple of bars to enjoy and judge the beat itself)..
outside samples are allowed, but 50% should come from the pack to give everybody a level playing field
outside drums, instruments, vsts, vocals allowed

Have a good time and have fun!

Here is my entry. Only outside drum. Took three samples and had to spend a lot of time trying to layer them by adjusting pitch. Took inspiration from D'angelo this week. His music is always a fall back for me when i need some good listening.

Happy Sunday Family hope everyone has had a nice weekend. Congrats Cascassette! Samples are fire thanks for curating!

Yo what's good people?

Interesting rules this week.
I used one of the vinyl samples, chopped it up. pitched it down -3 and also + 9
Used the low end of the -3 sample chops for Bass.
Added drums.
MF DOOMSDAY today so I had to add a MF DOOM acapella

wow long time since I've made one of these, but I got my brand new maschine and I wanted to get back to beatmaking, this was great to remember the basics and a nice challenge with the layers!

I've mostly used What is this 32, chopped and layered in thirds and in the second part an octave below. I've also layered Vinyl 04 in fifths which makes a great instrument. Piano and bass were played by me
