STBB #845 - KDG

First up thanks for the votes last week, means a lot. Also thanks to FE Joose for his guitar work and vocals.

I've been taking part in these battles for 9 years now so I wanted to try and give you samples that have probably not been flipped before...

So this week, you have the entire discography of Kees De Groot to work with... don't worry he only released 2x abstract, experimental cassette tapes! :D

Gefeliciteerd jongens!..
Kees de Groot.. lekker gezellig abstrakt, ja toch?

Ik wed dat er niet veel inzendingen zullen zijn deze week haha

i think it might be just about the same as usual..

just chopped the samples up.. ~ enough to do a 'no outside anything' beat.. but i always love the 'outside everything allowed' as well..

let's see what's to be wrung out of'em !

Wowzers talk about some esoteric samples! Kept hearing Kanye's Yeezus album in these samps so kinda went that direction with the bed of the beat. Main bass drone from sample, as well as the trills/screeches. Added boomy drums and some soul vocal one shots to help with the directional narrative, and Raekwon for pure heat lol. Happy Sunday Fam!

Sample used in this way: 2 separate tracks in the intro, one starting from the beginning and second track for low frequency rumble at 0:12.
Then one chopped track of the sample continues all the way trough the track complimenting the beat in the background - giving some distant banging, wind type noise and rumble.
Outside: Played drums and bass in Ableton, added Gregorian chants and other acapella from youtube.
Not sure if this should count as an entry since the sample isn't a main focus here, but the rules didn't specify that.

And here is also nothing outside, wanted to challenge myself. ⌨️ :geek:

Made synths and bass by looping tiny bits of the sample and eq'd and pitched the drums from random hits of the sample.

Great samples!

The main part is the intro to "B2 / Ankarax", the "pluck" from 3:22 heavily mangled and played throughout, and a "swell" sound found somewhere in there. Outside drums used.

Wow, love that you're all taking up the challenge of some nutty samples!

Outside everything so all good!

Absolutly zero outside stuff challenge accepted

Look forward to this!

I wanted to keep it Dutch so flipped the beat and found a Dutch mc and used Serato Stems to pull a rough acapella and blended it in

I was too afraid of zero outside stuff so I have some synths in there!

Yo

struggled a bit with the sample.
Afternoon cook up.

Pitched that sample way down -12.
Chopped it up and added drums.
Bass/ low end from the sample.
EL-P on the acappella

:salute: 🖖 ☮️
Peace Mox.
