STBB #761 Lonnie Smith Week

Oh wow this mix up was bound to happen, the 2 Lonnies always get confused. I'm a larger fan of "Liston" than the "Dr." but RIP and I'm a huge fan of both

Well.
I guess I mixed up some people.
I did not expect there were 2 geniouses with that name, my bad!

Sorry for that, especially for calling you dead mister Lonnie Liston Smith!

🙈

I hope you stille enjoy the samples!

Hey All,
Sorry to hear about Emmitt's passing. I was never a Cowboys fan but I had respect for his skills as a running back.
Seriously though, Cheers to the Doctor for giving us some great music..
I always look forward to samples each week here. You guys have turned me on to some great stuff I never would have come across in my daily grind. So thanks for that.

Peace, Hugh

So are you going to do a new upload of samples from Dr. Lonnie Smith or we suppose to use the three songs that's in the original file from Lonnie Liston Smith, just curious?

Used only the 3 samples (No outside samples).

Seriously, each sample is fire.

Got a chance to lay something for the first time in a lil min, so I changed my entry.

Beat only (should you care to listen)

Peace

Maybe in a future week (even next week) we can use the true deceased Dr. Smith , and this week continue with the living breathing Liston samples thats my opinion yup

I'm not going to change the samples or rules, but just stand by my mistake ... :|

EDIT: It's a non entry :turd: I added a synth without thinking about it. Usual workflow rutine, I guess.

Quick flip. The chords/licks are made using a single-note mono chop from the piano part of the live-session-sample.

Yo.

What's good people?
Chopped up the "Space Lady" sample.
Just outside drums added. Same old technique.

:salute: 🖖 ☮️
Peace Mox.

I've always wanted to take a classic hip hop sample and flip it in a more modern way. (cool beat battle idea) I'm hearing this in modern day R&B. Dvsn used this sample in one of his songs. I took snips of his vocals to compliment my track and take it into a different direction.
