1. ∆EN.KEEɸ - this cat ate a whole box of dilla donuts for breakfast. that´s as dilla as it gets. thank you. turn it up! 🔥
2. Joa&Julian - Smooth raps and the beat is just BUTTER. Wish there would be a bit more instrumental part at the end. This is how i wish my mix sounded, especially this time lol :acid:
3. ruedenz - reminded me of Champion Sound, so raw yet so many layers that fit perfectly. Goddamn.

Close shots:
Kongchain - Big Kong never disappoints. Big up for consistent high quality funky delivery dude 🏅
Sly Blackford - Simple and effective. And as you put Quas on the stage it was over. Crazy joint 🏅
CHOPFYT
....
I use to say this quite often but this time really - SO MANY great contributions this week. I didnt even get to comment on all the ones that were great. Thank you for holding up during this pandemic to keep us all motivated and create a little homage to DIlla.

To the production side chat going on:
I´m an Ableton person since a decade or longer and I mostly just start off with simpler and then layer my track around the sample chops.
Until recently I only wrote songs in the arrangement view, then I read about KNX writing in the live view and experimenting with different chops.
This is what I started to try out since a couple of weeks but do not yet feel very confident about it.

Other recent "gear" :
Vulf compressor - weapon of choice on my master chain
GregWells MixWell - OneKnob Magic
Scaler 2 - changed the way i write completely. The track from last week was started with some chords that I routed through a Moog VST.
...

Looking forward to get more technical feedback on my tracks in the future.

Dope Dilla Week. Take care everybody.

Well done Aen.Kee!

On the production tip Im still rockin the FL studio (free trial) like a pauper...RIP my 2500.

I usually use playlist view to chop samples, save the samples separately and then work on the arrangement adding drums and [chopped] breaks from my collection then other elements like bass and sometimes instrumentation towards the end.

I am very sample driven I have very little musical theory and have always struggled with it. Hopefully Ill have an MPC One before the year is out cos I really miss making a beat with pads.

Peace
