This weeks theme is some classic 70's space funkiness

SAMPLES:

RULES:
-- Try and make something that Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers would be happy to put on and get down to some sweet moves! (Jazz/Space/Funk)
-- No outside samples other than drums/percussion (fx, vocals, etc).
-- if need be, feel free to grab sound bites from any 70's space funk programs.
-- Vocals and freestyles are fine, just no outside bass or synths.
Filter's, distortion, modulation, delay is all good too.

Hope this is cool with everyone, I've not done this side of the post before. All new territory for me!?

The Fine Print:
Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 680“ in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Wednesday at Midnight, Pacific time.
Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.
For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: https://soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.
EVERYONE VOTES - by Friday at Midnight, Pacific time
Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Saturday at Noon, Pacific time and upload the sample here: https://wetransfer.com/

just to be sure..
so, no instruments, no (bass )synths.. no vocals.. no vocal shots?
no fx.. so no sweeps, bleeps.whatever..
no crackle ?

so just utilise the sample and add only drums and percussion ?

Mad empty shelves at work!

had another track going but the rules changed 12 hours after being posted....big up to joa for getting them clarified...im salty as hell  lol....but yo this was fun. so i took the first guitar note of "track 2" and pitched it down 12 semitones, then played it as my bass line. then reamped it through my bass amp, captured it with a couple of mics. took that same single note and made the intro you hear under the folks talking in the intro. then as you hear the beat all the synthy sounding shit was made from that one guitar note. shit was getting reamped through pedals and amps and also to the portastudio to get mangled. shit was fun. so yeah all sound except the drums were all from that one guitar note. played my drums set on one of the two sections. so yeah no outside sounds used. the vocals in the intro were from my stash of junts. cringey space show my mom used to make me listen to at my grandmothers house when i was a kid. anyhoo gonna delete all the bullshit key bass outta this and add a real bassline to it at a later date. hope ya dig.

what is a "70's space funk program"?

I was thinking programs like, Battle Star Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Flash Gordon, even the original star trek?
70's jumpsuits, shinny outfits, big collars, flares, mini skirts, afros and disco balls... Hell even "Sun Ra Space is the place"... ;)
Does that help ?

Whats up guys?

Hope I didn't upset to many people by not allowing outside Bass or synth this week.
I Rushed a bit putting up the Rules and samples as I was flipping out over it. :D

I always like to see what can be done with effects delays and plugins to samples...

Cooked up this flip today,
Thought I would give a break down of the flip.

I Chopped up the first track into a lot of 2 Bar loops,
Set the Tempo at 66 bpm,
then made a couple of drum tracks one 4 Bar and the other 8 Bars.
Put down some of the loops to the drums,

got some vocal clips of Buck Rogers Disco scene from Youtube.

Bounced the Drums Hi hats and Main sample into Audio.
Added EQ’s to the Drums and Hi Hats, also some compressors.

Copied the bounced samples audio track into 3 more audio tracks,
Added EQ’s to the Tracks to help pull out which parts I wanted.?
Main sample has as plugins in the track, Spreader and a Delay Designer to give it some more movement and panning effects.

Second copy of the sample has
Sub Bass, Bass Amp as plugins to pull up the Low ends of the Samples.

3rd copy of the sample has Delay Designer and Auto Filter as a plugin also to create more movement in the mid range at but a different speed.

All tracks Have a Bus to send some data for some reverb.

Output Has Multiprocessor and a Limiter to cap the mix. ?

Stay Safe people.

Hey All, Hope things are going well for everybody under the circumstances. I am well but i am kind of a hermit anyways. The space part was a solo using a sampler on one part of a track. Fun Theme and Congrats Mox!

Peace. Hugh
