I hope that nobody minds if i use their beat as part of a review of STBB 662 on The Bedroom Beat Show?
I'm only going to use 8 bars and run through all 20+ beats.
If you don't want to be on, get at me on noisybunch@gmail.com

the show will be on tomorrow, Sunday 17th probably 1pm UK time (i have to finish another show first, which is why i'm not 100% on the time)

Hey All, A friend turned me on to this video and i thought this would be a cool idea ( microtonal ). Many producers here already have this sound in spades but I had no clue how to get it. Maybe they use some kinda tape fx or something but i would like to explore it or hear how they get that effect on their chops. Probably been done already but i would like to hear how different producers get it.
Peace, Hugh

ah, shoot Deet!.. I went on memory that there weren't new additions to the stockpile.
not able to look at the video in depthh at the mo' but is seems like a way of affecting too right?

Hey Joa, It is a tuning and scale related effect but I think most of the time people use some kind of effect to get it. I was wanting to find out different methods people used to get that fx cause I hear it a lot in the battles. It really comes out in tape warp fx. I think people could definitely try it if they wanted to and would count as an effect. Looking forward to siting down with the rules and sample soon. Peace, Hugh

maybe you mean the 'flu' setting on the SP-404 ?

and here?

narrowed the stereo image, split it 3 ways and started chopping. all the bass and keys comes from the sample. i actually played my drum kit (gretsch kit) over a break i chopped up. I played guitar in the beginning through a big muff fuzz, its panning/swelling left to right. second half i played a different guitar into a different distortion pedal, you can hear it riffing/chugging away on the right as i am singing then i played a solo at the end.. also the low end of the sample was reamped into my bass amp. the clean guitar you hear low in the background (triggering pretty fast) is from the sample...hope ya dig.

I pitched and flipped the sample, added bass and layered the drums that were already in the sample. Then i added an increasing overdrive effect that leads to some kind of drop (and painted a small piece into my blackbook).

Have fun!
