STBB #649

Thanks for the votes guys, and thanks to everyone who checked out my track.
A special shout out goes out to all the "usual suspects" in here who keep this party going with their continuous activity, dedication and support.

For this week I went with samples from one of my favorite japanese musicians/composers: Yūji Ōno
He is 78 years young now and still touring to show everyone his music. I think its incredibly amazing.
Check out his soundtracks, they are beautiful.
Official (japanese) website: https://www.vap.co.jp/ohno/

In addition the theme will be lo-fi. Give us that raw, dirty sound.
It doesn't have to be the whole track if you want, but make sure that at least somewhere/somehow in your track lofi is present.
Please limit yourself to a maximum of 2 different beats/flips in your track. Just one beat is obviously cool as well.
Maximum time limit: 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
No full acapellas, very short vocal samples are allowed
Outside drums allowed
Outside synths etc allowed but make sure that the sample dominates the mood
No outside samples allowed

I hope you have fun with the samples

Congrats Buddah.... well deserved.... I dont want to sound too ignorant, but what comprimises a 'Lofi Beat'? In my mind its using lots of low-end and boom-bap style drums (to put it really basic)... What other boundaries apply? Cheers in advance

The style of drums doesn't really matter.
Its more about the sound (quality) in general. It should sound kinda "old" like from a 1998 mixtape cassette or whatever.
You can achieve this by crushing the bitrate, tape hiss, tape emulation, using distortion etc. There are many possible ways.
It doesn't have to be a complete mess, it just shouldn't sound too polished.
I hope this helps

Hey guys, couldnt vote this week, sry.

Congrats BuddahKillah, that's a certified banger, it was my favorite entry. 🔥

Dope, Yuji Ohno as some sick soundtracks! 👍

Congrats on the win Buddah Killah and thanks for these wonderful samples... :)

For the lofi i flipped on my phone with loopy and filtatron... mastered with compression and limiter in my DAW

SP-404SX. Loops and resampling :) Used "Forget About Time" and SFX 23 (for bass). Had some drum samples in the machine. Made a little loop with them. Yes, and some anime sample too.
