uhm, didn't mean for it to be this big a pic. but this is what I listen on..
also when I listen to the past beats later they often sound different it seems, coz it's in a relaxer state than having to judge them.

I did most of my work this year with dt880s. They're clear in the sub and all the way up. They're light, they let your ears breathe, it's all good. The dynamic range is wide as hell, to the point of ear fatiguing. Plus spikey highs.

Not sure yet if I'd take dt880s over k240s, but definitely not over m40x, if you open them up once in a while.

M50x are even more mid-scooped, which is why I think of those as what you give artists and listeners rather than producers. Still, some of the best sound designers I know use mostly m50x.

I used DT880's for a few years after years of using DT770's for many years, but the more openness and space of the 880's was at the expense of low end, which the 770's had. (Fundamental closed open back vs closed back issue) I used the akg K702's for a short time as well, and while the space was great, I just couldn't vibe with how they sounded in the upper mid range. Overall they sounded too brittle IMO.

I found the perfect balance when I got DT1770's last year. For me they combined the best of the DT880 and DT770 headphones plus lots more and make producing or listening an absolute joy! 8-)

(Add a SubPac S2 and a SPL Phonitor Mini headphone amp into the equation and it's dreamland. )

This week a few kats surprised me and a few came thru with their usual heat, I decided to bow out of this week's competition cause of being so tired from working retail during the X-Mas holiday, plus I need to buy more diskettes or eventually upgrade to a card reader, anyway on to the votes. My top three votes go to...

1. Perdu (I had to bump your track a few times before going to the next person's beat.)

2. FatVonFree (how do you make dope beats so damn fast?)

3. SoDamnFresh (You always got some heat, even though this one hardly have any low end to it, it still was a head-nodda.)

Honorable mentions go to: Dj Agent M., Wigmaster, BleS24, B-Jam Vs. Enos, Conner Helm, Gooddy, & JoaGymshoe for all having some dope submissions as well that I liked.

Yoooo thanks fam, truly appreciate it!

Big ups Dj Agent M and per.du. Shout out to B-Jam vs Enos for his sterling work on the vote counts.

I'll get digging and put up #617 before our deadline.

Hope you're all having great festive seasons. :D

peace
