Yooooooo just stumbled onto this site! Used to spend a ton of time on the OG ST board. Not sure if anyone will remember me. I used to spend time on STMB and SoulStrut.

Nice to see BigErn and Godzilla! Would be dope to hear from Shakey and J303. Was Fredfades posting on STMB?

What a blast from the past. I only got here because I was listening to Dj Troubl - A Journey Into Fresh Diggin mix and decided to google it because I couldn’t remember when it was released. I totally forgot Stones Throw hosted it on the site for a while.

Yeah man when Jonwayne showed up on the STMB he was named CaptainCookie if I remember right. His first few posts were basically him talking about how he was gonna start rapping and how he was way into poetry and shit. Then he posted some examples of his poetry and it really wasn't very good. Coupled with that, he was like making a big deal about being around black people and it really weirded me out. After a while though, you could see him progress musically with his rhymes and beats super quick. He eventually did put out a project with another Board member right before he got signed to Stonesthrow. I can't remember the other board members name though, I just remember he was a British cat and he was one of the guys that had a more professional sound that came after the beat battles started. The project was super good though.

what up zilla yeah I remember that. I gave him a beat and he did record over it but it never came out. good to see the og's still around. I think that British producer might have been josh g.

Not that they're around anymore, but another interesting seemingly OG member who battled/won looks like Ta-Ku which AI pointed out to me when updating the Winners list. Anyone know if it was actually him or just a name coincidence? The timeline seems like it would have fit - I really enjoyed his 50 Days for Dilla albums back in the day.

He never won a battle unless he was using a different username at the time, but I do know Tyler the Creator used to hang out on STMB as well
