yoww.. i've been meaning to bring this up for a couple of months now..

but then there's a few week without.. ... the 3 minute time limit !

okay nobody wants to listen to 17 to 23 five minute tracks.. in reality rarely a lotta peeps go over..

it's not conducive for creativity..

i want to move towards scrapping the almost habitual rule

unless it's substantiated in the rule saying something like: ' for this or this reason i'm placing a certain timelimit.

I couldn't agree more!

Now, I know I'm that one who takes the biscuit with the too long tracks.
but nonetheless.
Here is my two cents on the time rule.

1) I understand time rule more if it was the 'challenge' part of the challenge,
such as 'make a ten second beat that is pure fire' or something
2)In all other cases it is just a thorn in the brain of creativity

So what to do?Well, I used just not play the time limit weeks.
I tried two uploads one the "real" length, the other trimmed to
the limit. Nobody ever listened to the "real" beats! Ha! No surprises there.
Finally I landed on Just ignore the rule.
Nobody ever pulled me up on it or gave me any grief about the track lengths,
but I have never come close to a win, so there is no reason to contest the
broken,(bent?), rule.
(ok, once I did come second and almost won, once but the track was 48minutes
long and there was no time limit but that is a serious exception, on every measure)

I simply say the same single thing.
I don't care to win or lose. I play for the fun and community.
I appreciate you all and enjoy listening to your music each week
(and feel like a heel when I vote as I must choose only three pieces above all
others)
I appreciate that you listen to and comment on my submissions.
But if you are not digging the music, be it ten seconds long
or three hours long
JUST SKIP IT!
Haha!

(on that note)
don't let any rule get in the way of having a good time making tunes
just ignore ANY rule, if someone has beefs wth that relabel as non-entry
and keep on laughing!

hehe, i thought that mighta been the case.. well, certain limitations can definitely help one learn things and yeald surprising results..
and some special rules, themes, challenges are definitely fun..
