Hello everyone!

Thank you again to everyone who voted and to all those that submitted entries; I love these creative weeks that challenge our normal flow of creation.

The rules for this week:

-Use both samples
-no outside sounds EXCEPT those you have recorded (microphone, phone, field recorder)
-to clarify: no outside samples if you didn’t make them, no vst synths (sample engines are obv fine if you are using them to process your recorded sounds)
-extra points for a beat switch

The samples:

The Fine Print:
Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 903“ in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Thursday 06:00 in the morning, Pacific time/15:00 CET
Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.
For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: https://soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.
EVERYONE VOTES - by Friday noon Pacific / 21:00 CET
Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Friday midnight Pacific/ Sat. 09:00 CET and upload the sample here: https://wetransfer.com/

Essp; thank you, friend. Excellent work last week as per usual!

That is correct. If you record your own drums then chop that up, then it’s fair game! But otherwise, no outside samples etc if you didn’t press record on it.

Hope this helps.

hey man congrats on the win

nice samples, so no outside samples means no drum samples either?

recorded guitar shakers snaps/claps and a stompbox, the 1st sample is the bass and the 2nd is a synth sample and a 1 shot

🖖

congrats to the Digital..

am i mistaken in thinking you were a duo in the past?.. anyway, you have all the skills of a band combined.. rap-singers included..

i have folders of field recorded sounds from previous stbb challenges.. bought a zoom h1 especially for them back in the day.. useful tool..

but i think my man Rasmenelik is gonna have his kids bang on some drums for this.. see what i can add..

have a good week all..

Congrats on the win!

Took my phone with me walking the dog by the river near me and got some ambient recordings of water, birds etc... also recorded some beatbox style percussion and some taps and clicks of stuff around my home. These field recording ones are always cool!

Hey All, Congrats and great rule. I think i get better percs using recorded things. I used my big mouth to do the drums. The rest are the samples. Hope all are well.

Peace, Hugh

Hi everyone, congrats to the winner !

This week's rules were lowkey intense, I hope my entry qualifies :

I cut and distorted our two samples as much as I could, using saturator - pitch - redux - overdrive - autofilter to create my sounds.

Happy listening!

Hi,
congratulation DGTL!!
thanks for the samples'n'rules contest!
I respect the rules, (no outside samples, only playing for the other part and switch bonus)
At the begininng, i sample my voice to create a drum rack.
I pitch and detunes and saturated and use many fx and cut short part to have nice samples
At the end I find the drum cool, I will use this technique more often ;)

About the edit,
In the first part I cut the arpeggio from track1 and use the bass of the intro of track 2, and blend the all in fx and sampler.
And I play some wurlitzer and riff of clavinet too in the second part.
That's a sort of switch..... not really enormous...ok :)
Have a good week,
Now
i getting listenning what you've done!

Cheeers!

Congrats theDGTL !
This time I tried to make the beat quite abstract.
It's an irregular beat, so it's hard to get the rhythm right, but that was the intention, it was an experiment to see what it would sound like if I kept changing the tempo of the beat.

Besides the sample files, I used a little recording of the drums on the Akai-S20, and I also used a microphone to record my own voice beatboxing and shouting!

Hi All, last week I was late to vote :? I'll make sure I do vote this time.

Here is my entry for this week.
I mostly sampled Kikagaku Moyo and stem it out to harvest its drums. the bass/synth chromatically played is the only sample from Escher sample and it is single cycle wave repeated for couple of seconds and then played on keyboard. remaining samples are various samples from my zoom field recorder but they are usually effected a lot.
all that was done on mpc one in standalone (apart of that stem function, for that I have used mpc desktop) and final performance was recorded from output mix to reason where I have added eq, stereo imager, compressor and maximizer

Quick one - i recorded some birds chirping outside and created th drums from some kitchen noises I made.
serato sample lost the chopped temorary sample so this version was all I was left with ;-(

I guess this is still non entry when vocals count as "no outside sounds"

Yo

Had to cook this up in the last few hours, full on forgot about it... being the stoner that I am. :blunted:
I just used the samples. chopped them up, used a one note sample from the Escher track...
88 Bpm pitched the drums down -4
Nothing added,
even though I went to the trouble to record some sounds on my phone... :weed: :hmm:

:salute: 🖖 ☮️
Peace Mox.
