STBB #882 Pack

stbb #882

the brief:

i compiled a pack that contains enough samples/bass/drums to make a track / remix with.. only use those to build your track.

use a verse and a chorus of one of the two acas.. bpms are included.

if you use a verse and a chorus of both acas you get an instant 5 points.. i will listen and take count.. mention it on the forum to be sure..

took a couple days but i think i got something.
shout out the the upright bass player in that sample. that dude was on the most amazing batch of cocaine. anyhoo. 90 percent of the sounds made were from that upright bass. kick was a combination of that disco funk junt and the upright. snare was from the disco funk track. main bass hit/low rumble was from "number 2". filtered and tuned it. the main sample is "8 number 7". FOUND THE GUITAR, lol in 2 parts. combined them. then stretched the life out of them then chopped and looped. bass line is the upright bass sample. found a good solid note. tuned it to c then tuned it to tuned to c# (no single cycle waveform tricks used full notes). ran that through the elektron heat so you could hear the plucks better and then stacked some transient shapers on it. uhhhh. the synth you hear in the left is that same upright bass note played up 7 or so octaves and run through a granular delay and an envelope follower. now to these trash ass acapellas lol. i kid i kid.... didnt use a chorus, just made it seem like they were rapping on the track together so no 5 extra points for me. overall was fun and pretty basic beat making. chop, resample, chop, mutilate, chop, chop and layer. SIDE NOTE upright bass is the mvp. its a resonance monster. in the case of sound design its cheating. its absolutely cheating lol. distortion and saturation on it and you can damn near make any sound from it. there are some taps from the dudes cuff or cufflinks in there. that was used for the hi hats. also the parts where he used a bow that was used for cymbals. layer cocaine, cuff links, upright bass and a bow for magic.....sorry for the novel. fun stuff.

yoww brother..
amazing work..
however you're putting me in a bit of a predicament..
firstly to explain
apart from finding the drums and and bass etc.
i put the the: use a verse and chorus part of the brief in coz the dynamics often change when the latter occur
so i do feel obligated to point this out to you.
i'm truly sorry.

yeah thats why i was saying no extra 5 points for me. its in the same sentence you quoted. all good mane. still an entry because it was an "if" statement. but yeah i knew about the 5 points thing. gonna be a good week!!!

hmm, we seem to have a misunderstanding.. i wouldn't be sorry about someone missing out on 5 extra points..

brief states:

use a verse a and a chorus..

if you use a verse and a chorus of both acas you get an instant 5 points
.. so that's two verses and two choruses..

in any case.. the brief asks for a chorus..

that's why i'm saying i feel bad.. it doesn't comply with the rule set.

gonna be a good week for sure though !

ah, and maybe have a brief handy.. like, prepare one for next time you win.. which could definitely happen any week..

you know what..

you did an incredible job..

how about this as a solution ?

we leave it up to the voters,

instead of the 5 points extra you take a 5 point deduction,

and next time you win.. you post the new week yourself.

seems like every time you ask me there's a snag ;)

up to you..

yoww..

usually i work on the track intermittently over four days..i think this loop sparks the imagination of what could be though..

made it this morning/afternoon.. i'ma throw it up early for a change and flip some of the other samples..

126 bpm.. made the AZ aca work at 94 bpm with some hoodoo magic ;) ..and timestretched JID to 126 ..

hope ya'll are enjoying the challenge..

For everyone who struggles with right tempo (like me the last half hour :D): The AC aca is in 93,3bpm and JID in 157bpm and changes to 140bpm after the break at 1min 39,58sec.
