hold the line was on at five guys the other night and I immediately thought wow what an absolute banger no one has ever even considered chopping. taxi driver I've been watching a lot lately and honestly think its my favorite movie of all time. you can pause it at any second and just study what's going on in the frame it's visually perfect and what a soundtrack right from the opening credits to the floating carnage scene at the end

didn't know people had used it before. I've never heard any of those songs. they all kinda did the same thing. I'm hoping someone on here can do it better.

the MOP 'cold as ice' foreigner flip is my standard of how this should be done

YOU NEVER HEARD A TOTO SONG BEFORE?
oh damn

Edit: Did not mean to offent you, you really should check out their music, no matter if its to your taste - they really were massive at their time :!:

huh? yeah of course I know them. hold the line is one of the most popular songs of all time. I've never heard any of those flips on the whosampled link before

Yo

What's good people?

Damn...
Taxi Driver is one of my favourites of all time. 👍 🔥
Happened to see this when I was around 14/15 years old.

tempo 88 used the Hold the Line sample.
Usual approach for chopping, just outside drums added.
Bass from the sample.
Amped up the guitars. Added some filter action.

:salute: 🖖 ☮️
Peace Mox.

Used the God's Lonely Man sample. Ran it through Portal to get a drone atmosphere as the backbone of the beat. Embellished with frequencies. Dilla Month.

hey a friend of mine mentioned my mixes are coming out a little hot, harsh and distorted. I'd appreciate any feedback on this

They are indeed a bit heavy on the low and lack some high frequencies. Also, most of the time it's preferable to keep frequencies below 350HZ mono. And a little distortion isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Other than that music wise always on point!
