been reflecting a lot around week 1000 ..

it made me think of this challenge:

Reworking an old beat​

and hopefully improving on it with newly acquired skills and techniques ............

Rule set:

- you can rework / remix an old stbb beat of yourself
- if you are new to stbb you may choose a non-stbb track.
- you can choose to rework/mix someone else's old beat, ask them.

- beat makers can also suggest beats of their own for re-working by posting them below..
this might create some more engagement ..and us checking out each other's older tracks..

~ plz post old and new version..

Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include

in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Thursday 15:00
CET Central European Time / 06:00 PST Pacific Standard Time
Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.

Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as:

Hell yea big fan of these rules, been meaning to do this for ages but usually get caught up working on new STBB stuff and don't get the time
 
This challenge just made me realise I've never reworked/remixed any of my beats ever, should be interesting 🥲

Also, does anyone know if there's an archive of the old STBB threads, I've completely forgot what samples I used to make the 2 I'm gonna choose from

i just looked up week 594.. it's one of the sparse ones i missed .. so i'm curious.. will look in old drives later if i did DL the samples..

but if you're only sking about old threads.. there's the wayback machine..

i know @HeavyDrama downloaded all of the STMB threads.
 
Yo homies !

for this week, I decided to remix my very first track, STBB474, using the same sample but with my current approach 10 years later.

In Part 2, I remixed my part of our STBB536 collaboration that I didn’t think was impactful enough

I kept the OG beat and Joa’s rap and used a different section of the original Donkey Kong Country sample. And I recorded some cuts at the end.

turns out i did make a folder ..and it contained a wetransfer zip file.. containing the samples of week 592 😅

so i'm also interested in receiving the samples of week 594 .. anyone ?

oh, and i couldn't get the way back machine to work for me..

haha, yeah man.. that week is strangely unfamiliar to me.. ..must have been on vacation or something..

been on a mad trip down memory lane too the last couple of days all the way from #319 ~ april 17 2013 ( thx SC for adding dates ! : p )

and the re/mix/flip is a whole serendipitous story too.. ..will explain with the actual posting of it !

come to think of it .. i might still flip #594 if i find the time..

you can reflip any sanple of any week or ask anyone for some stems of any week.. ( present tense )

doesn't seem that hard to think of a 'soluttion'.

but it was definitely my intention to create a pause and a momemnt to reflect..

even played with the idea of calling it non - week 😅

in a way.. not entering is more unique :unsure:

but you know i'm always philosophical about things

Unfortunately, very old beats files are in my old computer which died, so I couldn't go that far back in time. I chose to remake my 871 beat, since the rules that week demanded to use MIDI sounds only, I thought it would be interesting to revisit that beat with new sounds. In the end I even landed on a new section in the new beat!
