Promotion & Releasing Best Practices

What´s up guys

I wanted to open up a small discussion on best practices how to share and promote music - being it via Social Media, releasing it onto Streaming Platforms, producing your own physical tapes, CDs or vinyl and more.. Since a couple of years it feels like Instagram and Spotify continue to be the new go-to spot to discover and listen to music.
Personally I find it rather tedious creating content for Instagram to promote music, also I´ve been very hesitant about releasing music to Spotify due to Sample Clearance Topics. Curious to hear how you guys deal with it.

I'm prob not the best example for "best practices"
but, here is my practice:
single tracks : soundcloud
ep/album/beattape/collection : bandcamp
then I post link on forums and tweet a little.

I don't get a million plays, but I get genuine interaction.
I can't do instagram or spotify as they make my soul melt into a diamond of

I'm not an artist so don't know how it feels, but I know Spotify pays very little to artists.

I wish Bandcamp could get to Spotify size, it is so much more friendly to artists (I think they pay out like 80% of sales to artist)

Yeah, they don't pay sh*t....
bandcamp takes 30% normally, which is very fair!

Think Bandcamp only takes 15% on digital, perhaps a little less on merch.

As for Spotify, well they pay very little to smaller artists, but also they put up
"fake music" haha! That is generic music which they commission from library
music companies, (so they pay once fee and no stream fee), then they push
this music with their algo and playlists.
Also their is a lot of payola bullshit going on with people paying to get onto
playlists, and where as this is not spotify the company's fault, (in fact it is against
their usage guidelines), it just makes the whole thing stink.
So I don't use Spotify as either an artist or a listener, would prefer to give my music
away and pay to support artists I enjoy when I can! Haha!
