Happy Dilla Day. I haven't posted much here since my daughter was born but I thought this community might enjoy the base covers I did this year for Dilla day.

I picked a great week to come back. So hard to choose but I had to go with the Mint Condition song.

I did this a challenge a little backward. Instead of thinking of a producer first, I listened to the samples and thought about which one of my favorite producers would flip this. With a soul sample like this I instantly channeled my 9th Wonder. (Dilla was an obvious second choice).

This beat is dumb. Oh well, it was a fun challenge.

I wish I had more time to work on this.

Meh... I had a hard time with this one. I think I keep using too many of the same sounds I usually use.

I’ve been wanting to sample this song for a long time. This show brings me joy and relaxation even today.

Man I always though I had good time until I turned off quantization and tried to get things to groove. No quantization is tough. thanks for all those dope sounds too. I created a kit and will be using them a lot in the future. (I did the digital painting of Dilla used as my track image)

Does STBB do anything special for Dilla Day? Might be fun to do a Dilla themed battle. Resample something he sampled... remix something of his... or use an acapella of his? Just a thought. I usually do a bass cover video. Planning on doing one this year too.
